Author Guidelines

1. Manuscript Format

Authors are strongly encouraged to follow the official IJPHS template (Word or LaTeX) as closely as possible. The template is available on the journal’s website.

If the template is not used during the initial submission, authors must ensure the manuscript includes all of the following components, clearly structured and properly formatted:

  • Title (maximum 12 words, without acronyms or abbreviations)
  • Abstract (maximum 200 words, without citations)
  • Keywords (5–7 relevant keywords)
  • Structured manuscript sections:
    • Introduction
    • Proposed Method or Procedure
    • Research Method
    • Results and Discussion
    • Conclusion
  • Mandatory statements and information:
    • Funding Information
    • Author Contributions (CRediT taxonomy)
    • Conflict of Interest Declaration
    • Data Availability Statement
    • Author Biographies with IDs (ORCID, Google Scholar, Scopus (if any), Web of Science)
  • Length: Maximum 12 pages for original research articles or 16 pages for review / systematic review / survey paper.

2. Language

All manuscripts must be written in clear and proper academic English. The language should be understandable to readers from a broad scientific audience while maintaining academic rigor.

Manuscripts with poor grammar or unclear expression may be rejected or returned for revision. Authors are advised to use proofreading services or consult with fluent English speakers if needed.

3. Manuscript Structure

The suggested structure for a manuscript submitted to IJPHS is as follows:

3.1. Introduction

The Introduction should include:

  • Background: Outline the current state of research and identify the broader context.
  • Problem Statement: Clearly state the research gap or problem being addressed.
  • Proposed Solution/Contribution: Highlight the novelty or significance of your study.
Cite at least 10 relevant and recent journal references to demonstrate the originality of your work.

3.2. Proposed Method or Procedure

Include this section only if a new method, approach, or algorithm is proposed.

3.3. Research Method

Describe your methodology in sufficient detail to allow others to replicate your work. Include design, tools, materials, and data collection methods.

3.4. Results and Discussion

Present key findings clearly, using figures and tables where appropriate. Discuss how these findings relate to prior work, supported by suitable references. Avoid repeating data in both tables and figures.

3.5. Conclusion

Summarize the main findings and contributions of your study. Discuss how the results align with or contrast prior research, and how they advance the scientific understanding of the topic.

4. References and Citation Style

  • Use IEEE citation style for in-text references and reference lists (e.g., [1], [2], [3]).
  • Each reference should be cited in order of appearance.
  • We recommend using a reference management tool such as Mendeley to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • A minimum of 25–30 references is expected, with 20–30% from the past 5 years.
  • Prefer peer-reviewed journal articles; avoid citing textbooks and websites unless necessary.
  • Ensure all cited references are included in the reference list, and vice versa.
  • Self-Citation Policy: To maintain ethical publication standards:
    • Authors are allowed a maximum of 5 self-citations per manuscript.
    • Only 2 citations from journals published by the same publisher (Intelektual Pustaka Media Utama and Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science (IAES)) are allowed.

5. Figures and Tables

All figures and tables must be:

  • Clearly labeled, numbered sequentially, and referenced in the text.
  • Captioned properly:
    • Figures: Caption placed below the figure
    • Tables: Caption placed above the table
  • Figures must have clear resolution; avoid pixelated or unclear graphics.
  • Use horizontal lines in tables only under the caption, column headers, and at the bottom of the table.
  • If a figure or table is adapted from another source, proper citation is required.

6. Mandatory Declarations

All manuscripts must include the following sections at the end of the article:

  • Funding Information
Example: “This research received no external funding.” or include the grant number if applicable.
  • Author Contributions
Follow the CRediT taxonomy (e.g., Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – Review & Editing, etc.)
  • Conflict of Interest Statement
Declare any potential conflicts. Example: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
  • Data Availability Statement
State whether data is available and under what conditions. Example: “The data supporting the findings of this study are available upon reasonable request from the corresponding author.”
  • Author Biographies
Include a brief biography (3–5 lines) for each author, including academic background and identifiers (e.g., ORCID, Google Scholar, Scopus ID, Web of Science ID).

7. Final Page Policy

Authors are requested to ensure that the last page of the manuscript is fully utilized. Submissions with half-empty final pages may be returned for formatting revision.

For detailed formatting instructions, see the full Author Guidelines page.
