Author Guideliness

Authors intending to submit a manuscript to the International Journal of Power Electronics and Drive Systems (IJPEDS) are required to follow the journal's author guidelines carefully to ensure a smooth and timely review and publication process. These guidelines provide detailed information on article types, manuscript formatting, structure, and submission ethics.

All submitted manuscripts must conform to the journal's scope and subject areas. Authors are strongly encouraged to review the journal’s Aims and Scope before preparing their submission.

Please ensure that your manuscript meets all of the requirements outlined below prior to submission.

Article Types Accepted

The International Journal of Power Electronics and Drive Systems (IJPEDS) accepts a variety of article types. Manuscripts must present novel, well-validated results, comparative analysis against prior art, and sufficient technical detail to enable reproducibility.

  • Original Research Articles – Full-length papers presenting significant and novel scientific results.
  • Review / Tutorial Articles – Comprehensive reviews of recent advances or tutorials on emerging topics.
  • Short Communications / Technical Notes – Brief reports of novel findings, prototypes, or incremental advances.
  • Application Case Studies & Field Demonstrations – Practical implementations, industrial applications, or real-world validations.
  • Design & Implementation Reports (Hardware / Software / Firmware) – Engineering designs, prototypes, tools, or platforms.
  • Data / Benchmark / Model Papers – Datasets, simulation models, or control code contributions to support reproducible research.
  • Educational Innovations – New approaches in teaching, curriculum development, or pedagogical tools in power electronics and drives.
  • Standards & Policy Perspectives – Discussions on emerging standards, regulations, or policy issues (usually invited; contact Editors-in-Chief).

Manuscript Format

  • Length: Maximum 12 pages for original research articles, or 16 pages for review/survey papers.
  • Template: Authors must use the official template: Word | LaTeX.
  • Title: Concise (max. 10 words), without acronyms or abbreviations.
  • Abstract: 100–200 words, informative, self-contained, and without references.
  • Keywords: 5–7 keywords, the fewest possible words that accurately describe the paper.

Article Structure

A full article should follow the IMRaD structure and include the following sections:

  1. Introduction: 3–6 paragraphs, including: background, problem statement, relevant literature, proposed solution, and novelty/innovation. Must be understandable by a broad audience.
  2. Theoretical Basis / Proposed Method (optional): Used if a new method/algorithm is proposed.
  3. Method: Clear, detailed, and reproducible. Literature may also be cited here to support the research steps.
  4. Results and Discussion: Findings should be presented logically, supported by figures/tables, and compared with previous studies. Literature should be used to support analysis.
  5. Conclusion: Concise summary of major findings and contribution.
  6. Mandatory Sections:
    • Funding Information
    • Author Contributions Statement (using CRediT taxonomy)
    • Conflict of Interest Statement
    • Data Availability
  7. References: Minimum 10–25 references, mostly journal articles (80% from the last 10 years, 50% from journals). Use IEEE style [1], [2]. We recommend using Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote for reference management.
  8. Author Biography: At the end of the manuscript, include a short biography with institutional affiliation and links to ORCID (mandatory), Google Scholar, WoS, and Scopus (if available).

Figures and Tables

  • All figures must be clear, high-resolution, and not blurred.
  • Charts, diagrams, or graphs: must include labeled axes (X and Y) with units (if applicable) and a legend explaining all symbols, lines, or colors used.
  • Other types of figures (e.g., photographs, flowcharts, schematics) must be sharp, with informative captions that fully explain the content.
  • Figures are numbered consecutively (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.), and captions are placed below the figure.
  • Multi-panel figures: If one figure consists of two or more parts, label them using lowercase letters (a), (b), (c).... The caption should clearly describe each part.
Example: Figure 1. Performance comparison: (a) proposed method and (b) conventional method.
  • Tables are numbered consecutively (Table 1, Table 2, etc.), with captions placed above the table. Use horizontal lines only (caption, header row, end of table).
  • All figures and tables must be cited in the text and described, highlighting the key findings or information presented.
  • If a figure or table is adapted from another source, proper citation is mandatory.

Citation and Reference Style

References must follow IEEE style. Citations appear in square brackets [1], [2], [3], ordered by appearance. Multiple references can be cited as [1], [3], [5] or [4]–[8]. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference managers (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero).

Self-Citation Policy

To maintain the integrity and objectivity of the peer-review process, the journal enforces the following guidelines regarding self-citations:

  • Author Self-Citations: Authors are allowed to cite their own previous works, but the total number of self-citations should not exceed 5 references per manuscript.
  • Publisher Self-Citations: Citations to articles published within journals by the same publisher should be limited to a maximum of 2 references per manuscript.
  • Excessive self-citation may be flagged during the review process and could impact the editorial decision.
  • Authors are encouraged to cite only relevant and necessary literature to support the scientific content and discussion of the manuscript.

Ethics and Submission

Manuscripts must be original, not published previously, and not under review elsewhere. All submissions are screened for plagiarism. IJPEDS follows COPE guidelines. Plagiarism, data fabrication, and citation manipulation are strictly prohibited.
